intrapreneurship

If I had a dollar for every time an attorney told me how much they wish their team cared as much about their firm as they do, well, let’s just say I wouldn’t be writing this blog (or working at all!). Nurturing that entrepreneurial drive in a team—no matter how talented—isn’t easy, and a big part of why is because it’s not entrepreneurship but intrapreneurship that you need. Yes, a simple prefix does change everything…

Entrepreneurship vs. Intrapreneurship

Entrepreneurship is all about going out and getting. The term was coined by French economist Jean-Baptiste Say and refers to the impulse to undertake or cut your own path. You, the person who took the risk of starting a small law firm, are an entrepreneur. What your firm needs, on the other hand, are intrapreneurs—employees filled with entrepreneurial spirit but a “we’re in this together” mindset.

Intrapreneurship is all about capturing the ambition of those who would cut their own path and directing it inward. It’s about filling your firm with that spirit so that, collectively, you reach heights you’ve only dreamt of.

Sounds too good to be true? Trust me, it’s not.

Nurturing Intrapreneurship at Your Firm

Intrapreneurs, like entrepreneurs, thrive on growth and challenge. They are driven by seeing the success of their own creative impulses. Nurturing an intrapreneurial spirit thus means renovating your law firm culture, so your team members are not only empowered to explore their ideas, but are confident that—succeed or fail—they will be supported at every step of the way. My program—the Law Firm Admin Bootcamp—attends to this (and many other crucial topics).

In fact, week #3 of my Law Firm Admin Bootcamp is dedicated to fostering a leadership mindset among your team. This is achieved by:

  1. Building and bringing out-of-the-box thinking to every client engagement.
  2. Daily snapshot reporting.
  3. Weekly key productivity indicator (KPI) reporting, tracking & measurement from EVERY person.
  4. Introduction of nine strategies to support and protect attorney time, energy, confidence, and family.
  5. Tips on creating a law firm culture of adult responses vs. reactions in an honest while respectful manner (read: no drama or meltdowns).

While all of this might sound like extra work, time, and energy for an already overwhelmed office, it’s the opposite. Empowering your team to adopt an intrapreneurial outlook, and giving them the tools to do so successfully, is a recipe for freedom—both for you and everyone else at your firm.

A productive, drama-free workplace doesn’t come from micromanaging employee productivity or prescribing how your team uses their time. It comes from building the trust your team needs to take the reins and fully express the talent you recognized when you hired them.

By fostering intrapreneurship, you can finally stop saying “yes!” to tasks YOU shouldn’t need to do, so that you can finally attend to those that truly demand your attention.

If this is what you’re looking for, now’s the time to get your name on the waitlist. The next Law Firm Admin Bootcamp starts on January 10, 2023, and slots are already filling up. Call me now and get ready for a New Year of newfound success and balance!
