Quote of the Show:

“I think that lawyers are starting to see that the grind and the way that they sort of soldiered through the pandemic is probably not how they want to live long term.” – Jim Hacking

“Culture is really, really important” – Tyson Mutrux

Takeaways:

    • As we get further into 2023, more and more lawyers are venturing out to start their own law firms because they realized that the stress of the grind that the pandemic put on them is not what they want for their futures.

    • Consistency is key when it comes to maintaining your law firm. You want to make sure you keep your employees within your company.  As law firm owners, it’s important to be cognizant of taking care of your employees and making sure your team is good.

    • When hiring people into your law firm, don’t just put anyone into a chair at your company. You want to make sure that they are a fit in the culture as well. A way to avoid this is by being very intentional with your hiring process.

    • If you feel like you have to watch your employees by micromanaging them, you will never be successful. You hired these people and you need to trust that they will get their work done and turn in a quality product.

    • Taking the time to stop and think is critical for law firms owners in 2023. Typically law firm owners tend to be reactive and bounce around so it can help you focus on the important aspects if you take a moment to stop, think and relax.

    • Empowering your employees can help to make a law firm run smoother in all business aspects. Your employees are a relationship so you want to give them feedback and give them permission to lead.

    • Success is having a positive impact on someone else’s life. You can reach out to the people you are connected with and have a real heart to heart to truly understand what is plaguing them and how you can help.
