A gratitude journal practice can be one of the most powerful tools to shift your mindset, boost emotional resilience, and reignite your sense of purpose. Tina Torres, an Amazon bestselling author and co-host of The Angel and Tina Morning Show, learned this firsthand when she used gratitude to rebuild her life from the ground up.

Just over half a year ago, Tina faced a series of life-altering setbacks. After enduring 20 years in a toxic, emotionally abusive marriage, she finalized her divorce and became an empty nester when her youngest son joined the U.S. Army. Not long after, she lost her six-figure job, and with it, a major part of her identity. Relocating from Atlanta to North Carolina only deepened her sense of isolation.

In the quiet that followed, Tina felt lost, unwanted, and broken. She sank into a depression that made it difficult to function, much less dream about the future. But in that stillness, she discovered the transformative power of gratitude journal practice—and everything changed.

The Healing Power of a Gratitude Journal Practice

Tina made a conscious decision to focus on gratitude. Every morning, and again each evening, she wrote down three things she was grateful for—no repeats, no matter how small. She committed to this gratitude journal practice for 90 consecutive days.

By focusing on the positive, even in the midst of pain, she was able to pull herself out of the darkness. The shift in her mindset was dramatic. Within six months, she relaunched her coaching business with renewed passion and purpose. Gratitude, she says, gave her the clarity and courage to move forward.

Inspired by her experience, Tina published her own Gratitude Journal in December. This 365-day journal includes a scripture each morning and an inspiring quote each evening. It’s designed to help the reader cultivate daily gratitude and experience the same transformation she did.

Why You Should Start a Gratitude Journal Practice

Tina now challenges others to start their own gratitude journal practice. All it takes is five minutes in the morning and five minutes at night. Write down three different things you’re thankful for—no repeats. Over time, your mindset shifts from lack to abundance, from stress to peace, from defeat to hope.

This practice isn’t just a feel-good exercise. Studies in psychology have shown that consistent gratitude journaling can lead to:

  • Improved sleep and reduced stress
  • Great self-esteem and resilience
  • Stronger relationships and empathy
  • A clearer sense of purpose and joy
